HM Request for Senthil

Senthil has completed diploma in Computer engineering with 94% in Thiru seven hills polytechnic. He had scored 79% in tenth. He was working part time as an electrician to manage the school fees for his sister, who is doing her 11th standard now. He was helped by a lawyer Mr. Suryanarayanan, who stays near his place for his Diploma (full course fees). He has got a free seat in Crescent Engg College in counseling. The Rs. 70000 fees was too much for him and due to his financial position, he had decided not to join Engineering and decided to continue his electrician work. Mr. Suryanarayanan has approached SMIT Engineering college (sister concern of Thiru seven hills polytechnic) and Senthil has got CSE management seat in SMIT for a fees of Rs. 50000 per year without donation. He has paid Rs. 10000 with the help from Ranjith, care taker of the Balagurukulam orphanage. Senthil's father has left the family 5 years back. The main source of income for them has been the rent they get for their house (for the past 5 years) which is Rs. 1200 per month previously and is unoccupied now for the past 2 months. Senthil's father, when with them, was working with a private concern for Rs. 3500.
Srikanth has brought this request. HM had given Rs. 10000 for Senthil. He is trying to get help from other sources as well for the remaining amount.

College fees for Indhra

HM had paid the fees for Indhra, an inmate of Premavasam last year, who is doing her B.Sc in St. Joseph's college. This year too, Premavasam has requested HM help for her fees - total amount of Rs. 11500.
Indhra's academic record is simply great - Started schooling only in 8th std, she has scored 420/500 in 10th, 890/1200 in 12th, college 1st in the first year, second in the 2nd year (has missed college first by 1%). Considering the good performance of Indhra, HM has decided to help her this year as well. We have taken a DD in the name of the college and sent to Indhra last week.
The letter sent by Premavasam last time is available here.

Mess fees for Hari

Hari Narayanan has scored very good marks in diploma and got a seat in Govt Engg college for direct second year, this is really a tremendous achievement. He has scored around 93% in the diploma. Hari's father is an assistant in a leather bag company and earns around Rs. 2000 per month. His home town is Pudupet near Gudiyatham in Vellore district, Tamil Nadu.
We came to know that Hari's father has got loans at the rate of 10% interest and paid the college fees already. HM has decided to help Hari with the monthly mess bill for the first semester. Based on the first semester marks, we will decide for further semesters. Thanks to Mathan, RIL, for bringing up this request.

Education help for Banumathi

Banumathi is from a remote village (Vadakarai, near Peravurani, Thanjavur District). Having lost her father, her mother is taking care of the family who is working as a daily wage worker. Banumathi got help from various school teachers to finish her school studies. After that she doesn't have any source to help for her studies.

She is very much eager to continue her studies. She went to a nearby arts college to apply for BSc Botany. The college principal, after having a discussion with her, has suggested to take B.A. in co-operation (through correspondence course) so that she can get a job in co-operative societies after her studies. She is planning to do part time job to reduce her mother's burden while doing this course.

Balaji, our member, has brought this request to HM. Helping Minds has decided to help Banumathi. A couple of days back, Muppi and Balaji tood a DD for Rs.2815 and sent it to her. Thanks Balaji for bringing up this request to HM.

Mess fees for Milkkal

HM is helping Milkkal for the last two years. We helped her to pay college fees in the first year, and second year onwards, she was helped with her mess bills from us. She has got 70% in the last semester. Now she is looking for help for paying her mess bills for the third year. The Mess fees for the months of May, June and July is Rs. 1480. Muppi took a DD for the amount and has sent it to Milkkal last tuesday.
A short note about Milkkal: She is from a poor weaving family in Sankarankovil. Her father is working as a coolie in a powerloom, mother is a house wife. Her elder sister, after completing her +2, got married to a 40 year old man (second marriage) due to their family status. Her next sister was working as a contract labour in a spinning mill for the last 4 years. Milkkal got 456/500 in 10th standard and 1040/1200 in +2. She got admission in BSc Nursing, but since the fees was high, and since nobody else was there to help her,we suggested to give that up. Next year, the management of Erode Sengunthar Engineering College came forward to help her with a seat with the permission that she can pay just Rs 10000 per annum as fees and study. Apart from this fees, she will have to pay mess bills also. As they were not able to pay both the fees, helping minds came forward to take care of one the fees'.
