Education request for a physically challenged girl from Madurai

HM got a request for help from a physically challenged girl, she has got medical certificate stating that she has 60% disability. She hails from a village near Madurai. Her mother has expired long back, her father recently met with an accident and lost his legs in it. The girl is very interested in studies and has a good attitude. Coming from a very poor background, she is desperately in need of a job and hence has joined for this B.Ed course (1 year course).

Thirukumaran (through whom we got to know about this request - he is a volunteer in Disha trust) has already talked to few schools in nearby areas and they are willing to take her as a teacher once she completes the course successfully. Also there is a high possibility that she can get the Govt job based on physically challenged quota. The college founder himself has given about Rs. 15000 from his foundation, which she has used for the hostel fees and books.

Out of the total fees of 50k, she has managed about 35k with the help of 3 trusts; She is in need of about Rs. 15000. HM has given Rs. 10000 towards her fees on 20th Dec.

Helping Lakshmi from Premavasam

Lakshmi is a physically challenged girl, victim of polio. At the age of one and half years, she was affected by polio, unfortunately both her lower limbs are paralysed. She walks with crutches. All through her life she lived in various institutions, completed her plus two studies, after that she has no place to go because she is an orphan, now she is an inmate of Premavasam. Mr Selvyn of Premavasam has secured an admission for her for BCom at St Joseph's Arts and Science college. HM has decided to help Lakshmi with Rs. 11500 towards her college fees and will be handing over the same today.

Another good news: We had earlier helped Indhra from Premavasam and she has now completed her BSc as one of the toppers in the college and has secured admission for MCA in Anna University.

Helping Dhanalakshmi

Dhanalakshmi is a physically challenged girl. She has completed first year Teacher Training from Jeyasuriya Deemed University in Villupuram. Her mother alone is taking care of her and the family. This request was proposed by our member Sundar. Even though her HSC marks were poor (because of high fever during the exams), considering her disability and enthusiasm to study, HM decided to help her with part of fees. Helping Minds helped her with Rs. 5000/- and Anavi trust helped her with remaining 5000/- for paying her college fees of Rs 10000/-.
